I actually love to bake and cook, but with three tiny tots I also very much love keeping it simple these days! This is a super easy breakfast braid that you can get toddler help with and not have it turn into a flour disaster of nuclear proportions AND even eat breakfast before noon. 😉 It’s also gluten-free. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it!
Simple Gluten Free Apple Breakfast Braid
Mix in large bowl:
3 1/2 cups Pamela’s gluten-free bread mix (not baking mix, bread mix, Pamela’s is my FAV)
1 packet yeast
Measure into 2 cup measure:
1/3 cup coconut oil
Add warm water to equal 2 cups.
Mix into dry ingredients and let rest while you finely chop two peeled apples.
Pat dough into a rectangle on a greased cookie sheet or baking stone, and sprinkle apples on the center, then sprinkle 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1-2 tablespoons cinnamon on them. (we love cinnamon so I always use a lot!) Next, make 7 slices in the dough on each side up to the apple center (see pic). Side note, I LOVE using a baking stone and sadly mine broke while making this so I’ll be replacing that!
Next, overlap pieces to cover center (I had the twins help with this part).
Sprinkle some sugar over the top, pop it in the oven and bake for 45 minutes at 350.
Slice, drizzle icing if desired (I simply mixed 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup melted butter and milk for consistency) and enjoy!
